One or more popular apps (Messenger, Facebook, etc.) are blocked by Jomo but I have never selected them!

If you notice that a popular app (such as Messenger, Facebook, Spotify, etc.) is blocked by Jomo, even though you've never selected it to be blocked in Jomo, read on.

To fix this issue, you need to review the blocked content for all of your sessions and conditions to ensure that you haven't selected a related web domain using Apple's native list. For example, if Messenger is blocked, check that facebook.com or messenger.com are unselected in all your blocking rules.

Unselect related web domains in Apple's native list

The reason for this is that choosing to block well-known domains like facebook.com or amazon.com using Apple's native list may result in Apple also blocking the related apps (e.g., Facebook, Amazon, Messenger). This behavior is enforced by Apple. We find it puzzling too, but unfortunately, there's nothing we can do about it.

After ensuring that no associated website is selected using Apple's native list, verify that the problematic apps have been correctly unblocked.

If you wish to block a popular website like facebook.com on your iPhone/iPad without this side effect, we invite you to check the first method mentioned in this article.
