How to remove "Restricted" from my apps?

After installing Jomo and setting up a rule, you might notice a Restricted screen appearing on certain apps. Don’t worry — in most cases, it’s just a configuration issue, and a quick fix can resolve the most common cases.

Some associated domains have been blocked

Here’s a non-exhaustive list of apps that are often affected

  1. Meta services: Messenger, Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp
  2. Streaming services: Spotify, YouTube Music, Amazon Music, WSJ Audio
  3. Video services: Prime Video, YouTube

Steps to fix

  1. Open Jomo > Rules.
  2. Tap your rule.
  3. Under “Block”: (e.g., for Messenger) uncheck URLs like mfacebook.com, messenger.com, facebook.com, etc.
  4. Tap Save

Note: Selecting the main app is usually enough to also block the web version. For example, blocking the Facebook app will also block the website. Want to block a website across all browsers? Check out our dedicated article.

There’s a conflict between Jomo and another Screen Time app

A bug introduced in iOS 17.4 is causing conflicts between Screen Time apps, especially when using a Whitelist.

Two ways to fix this

  1. Switch to Blocklist mode in Jomo instead of Whitelist
  2. Uninstall any other Screen Time apps.

Note: This conflict goes both ways — Jomo might also interfere with other Screen Time apps.

Is your rule in Strict Mode? Please refer to our dedicated article for more details.
