[Mac App] How to block an app on Mac using Jomo?

On Jomo for Mac, blocking works differently than on the iPhone/iPad version. Some features aren't available on Mac (like Limits & Actions). However, blocking is more advanced on Mac — you can even filter by keywords, in addition to apps and websites.

How can you block apps on Mac?

Two options

  1. Only – Blocks only the apps you select.
  2. All Except – Blocks everything except the apps you select.

  1. Open Jomo.
  2. Click + New Rule.
  3. Click Recurring Session.
  4. Go to Block > Apps & Websites > Apps, and choose the apps you want to block.

Note: If you're using the All Except option, be careful: some important system apps might get blocked. Make sure to add them to your allowed list, or when in doubt, use the Only option instead.

How can you block games (installed via Steam, EA App, Epic Games, etc.)?

Classic Games

  1. Open Jomo.
  2. Click + New Rule.
  3. Click Recurring Session.
  4. Go to Block > Apps & Websites > Apps > + Add, and select the games you want to block.

Steam Library Games

Games installed via Steam are located in:

Macintosh HD/Users/{username}/Library/Application Support/Steam/steamapps/common/{Game Folder}

  1. Open Jomo.
  2. Click + New Rule.
  3. Click Recurring Session.
  4. Go to Block > Apps & Websites > Apps, then press + Add.
  5. Click on your username (user folder).
  6. Then go to Library > Application Support > Steam > steamapps > common.
  7. Open the game folder you want to block.
  8. Click the game icon to add it.

Note: If you don’t see the Library folder, go to Macintosh HD/Users/{username}, click , then select Show Library Folder.
