How to block apps on my iPhone using Focus Modes?

Blocking apps with Focus Modes: the dream finally comes true thanks to Jomo. That’s right — you can now block apps whenever a Focus Mode is turned on, whether manually or automatically. It’s like having a real Do Not Disturb mode.

🍎 Haven’t installed Jomo yet? Download it for free on the App Store.

How can I block apps with Do Not Disturb, Sleep, or Work?

To block apps when a Focus Mode is activated, you need to link it with a Jomo Focus Mode, so your app blocking is synced with your iPhone’s state.

On iPhone / iPad

  1. Open Jomo.
  2. Tap + > Recurring Session.
  3. In Block: choose what you want to block. In Active: choose Always-On.
  4. Don’t save — tap Add to Templates.

  1. Open your iPhone Settings.
  2. Tap Focus.
  3. Choose the Focus Mode you want.
  4. Scroll down and tap Add Filter.
  5. Choose Jomo > Start a session during this focus.
  6. Select your template.
  7. Tap Add.

On Mac

  1. Open Jomo.
  2. Click + New Rule.
  3. In Block: choose what you want to block. In Active: choose Always-On.
  4. Don’t save — click Add to Templates.

  1. Open your Mac Settings.
  2. Click Focus.
  3. Choose the Focus Mode you want.
  4. Scroll down and click Add Filter.
  5. Choose Jomo > Start a session during this focus.
  6. Select your template.
  7. Confirm.

How can I block apps on both Mac and iPhone / iPad at the same time?

To sync your Focus Modes and block apps across all devices, turn on Share Across Devices in the Focus section of Settings — on every device. Make sure to create your templates on each device, as they’re not stored in the cloud.

How do I remove the Jomo integration?

  1. Go to Settings > Focus.
  2. Open the Focus Mode page.
  3. Scroll down and tap Remove Filter.
